Centre for Aged Care Studies Research Seminar
03 Jun 2008
Helping Hand recently hosted a Research Seminar on behalf of the Centre for Aged Care Studies titled "Recent Outcomes in Aged Care Services Research: Safe Environments for Service Recipients and Service Providers".
Approximately 50 people from other aged care providers, older people's support organisations, government departments, academic organisations and Helping Hand staff attended the seminar which featured three excellent presentations of recent and current research.

Associate Professor John Spoehr and Dr Kate Barnett (both from Adelaide University's Australian Institute for Social Research) presented their findings from a major WorkCover research project "The Role of the Workplace in Return-To-Work".
Dr Mandy Stanley from the University of South Australia's Centre for Research into Sustainable Health Care presented "Creative Practice to Enhance Perceived Control and Well Being".
Astrid Sandmoe, a PhD candidate from the University of Oslo's
Group for Elderly Care Research presented a progress report on her PhD study "Elderly Clients in Community Care as Victims of Abuse".
Each of the presentations highlighted aspects of safety and wellness for clients and staff associated with the provision of services for older people. The presentations generated many questions and interesting discussion.
