Minister visits to announce funding for training

The Federal Minister for Mental Health and Ageing, Honourable Mark Butler, and local Member for Makin, Tony Zappia MP, visited Helping Hand’s Mawson Lakes residential care home to announce funding to support a new training initiative. The $400,000 awarded will support a training program run by Helping Hand in developing a new model of care in residential homes. The model promotes collaboration between staff across all disciplines of health care.

Helping Hand has launched a campaign that argues new aged care is no oxymoron. Through its new integrated media campaign Helping Hand is challenging the public perception of aged care and promoting the diverse services which are available to support ageing South Australians.
