Appreciating our Volunteers

11 Sep 2009

Fay StroudNational Volunteer Week provided an opportunity for Helping Hand Aged Care to thank our volunteers for their hard work.

Helping Hand Aged Care residents, community clients and staff are thankful to all volunteers who donate their time to our organisation. For more than 55 years, volunteers have played a crucial role in the success of Helping Hand Aged Care.

The thousands of hours they provide each year supports us in maintaining a high standard of care and improving quality of life.

Services provided by our volunteers include assisting with activities and social functions at our residential sites, support for community based clients by providing transportation to external activities and appointments, and participation in fundraising initiatives by becoming auxiliary members.

A great example of volunteering is Fay Stroud, volunteer and now resident at Ingle Farm. In the early 1980's Fay Stroud began assisting as a volunteer at Helping Hand’s North Adelaide site. In the mid 1990's Fay and her husband Don moved into the newly established home at Ingle Farm. Immediately she became involved in volunteering, became a foundation member of the Ingle Farm Auxiliary and worked tirelessly for that group until her retirement earlier this year.

To honour her unique contribution over two decades the Ingle Farm Auxiliary has awarded Fay life membership which was presented at a special ceremony on June 9th 2009.

Thank you Fay and all our volunteers, for your friendship and commitment - you are very much appreciated.
