Extending our Hand in the North

03 Dec 2009

Helping Hand Aged Care is pleased to announce the development of a new multi-million dollar, two-storey, 110-place residential care facility at Lightsview, the 800-dwelling development at Northgate. The new residential care site complements Helping Hand’s current suite of residential care facilities and community services in northern metropolitan Adelaide.

Helping Hand Aged Care Chief Executive, Ian Hardy, said that the development of the new multi-story residential facility reflects Helping Hand’s strong commitment to older South Australians and to ensuring that quality and professional care is delivered in safe and inviting surroundings, where residents can live the lifestyle of their choice.

“The Northgate development is an exciting opportunity for us and the community. The new Helping Hand facility is being designed to suit the needs of older South Australians as they enter a new time of life. The design of the site offers a good sense of balance between personal and public spaces for residents and encourages community and social engagement” he said.

The contemporary design also incorporates a range of green initiatives that work in harmony with our service delivery, to ensure that our client and environmental responsibilities are both met.

In common with other residential care sites operated by Helping Hand, the purpose built facility will offer ‘ageing in place’ so that residents with changing care needs are not disrupted by the need to move.

“It’s all about good care in an appealing environment.  We want to ensure our residents feel at home and can maintain their independence, dignity and respect as they grow older. Our commitment to the Northgate community is to establish a high quality service of which the local community can be proud.” Ian Hardy said.

This major development will be completed by 2012 as part of Helping Hand Aged Care’s extensive capital development plan which includes the expansion of the Mawson Lakes facility, the redevelopment of facilities at Parafield Gardens, Jamestown and North Adelaide, and the development of new seniors’ housing at Ingle Farm and Para Hills.
