Student vocational placement

Helping Hand Aged Care welcomes enquiries from students requesting information about vocational placements in our residential facilities, community services programs and corporate support areas.

Helping Hand has a strong commitment in supporting those who wish to increase their skills and knowledge in aged care service provision. Each year we manage to find vocational placements for several hundred students from tertiary institutions, vocational training providers and secondary schools in metropolitan Adelaide and the rural mid-north of South Australia. We have also arranged placements for students from interstate and international educational organisations.

Helping Hand has a one-point-of-entry for enquiries from students for vocational placements in any of our residential facilities or community service programs.

Therefore, if you would like to apply for a placement, please download and complete a Student Vocational Placement Nomination form and return it to us via email.

Applications using this form are welcomed from students, or their representatives, from tertiary, VET or secondary level training areas.

Please be aware that we will attempt to arrange a placement as you have requested in the form, however we cannot guarantee to satisfy every application. Also note that it may require one or two weeks to answer your request.

Helping Hand will contact the appropriate person at your school or RTO (Registered Training Organisation) to confirm legal and insurance matters, therefore please supply their contact details on the form as requested.

Be aware that you will be required to produce a copy of a National Police Certificate less than 3 years old prior to you commencing a vocational placement.

If you would like further information about Helping Hand’s vocational placement scheme please forward your request by email or by contacting the student placement coordinator Jan Van Emden on (08) 8267 0839.
