Policy & position statements

Helping Hand policies are statements about how we intend to act in a number of key areas. The Policy manual therefore reflects our organisation’s values and objectives. As part of a review of the Policy Manual, Executive and the Board have identified the need for a small number of new policies that will help guide the organisation into the future.

Policies are “statements of intent” because they affirm Helping Hand’s commitment in a range of key areas. They describe what we want to achieve and, very broadly, how we will act. They offer a guide to making decisions about the services we provide and the activities we perform.  As well as the policies, Helping Hand endorses other documents that further clarify and support the organisation’s intent. These documents give more detailed guidance about how organisational policies are to be implemented.

Following is a list of our current policies:

    01 Care and Service Delivery
02 Corporate Governance
03 Organisational Change and Growth
04 Access Equity
05 Quality
06 Duty of Care
07 Human Resources
08 Occupational Health, Safety & Welfare & Injury Management
09 Financial and Asset Management
10 Privacy and Confidentiality
11 Information Systems
12 Marketing and Public Relations

Position Statements are drawn up to help clarify our agreed approach to emerging issues for the organisation and for the community.

Guidelines specify particular approaches required by the organisation and clarify what latitude may be acceptable in particular circumstances.

Procedures set out clearly how specific tasks or related series of tasks are to be performed. This level of guidance may be needed for safety or legislative reasons, or because it significantly helps the efficiency of the organisation.
