It is not an exhaustive list but will simply serve to explain and inform you and improve your understanding of some of the references and terms we use at Helping Hand Aged Care.
- Administrator coordinator
The nominated contact officer in Helping Hand Aged Care who is able to discuss and advise you on your admission application
- Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT)
A group of professional people who will assess your need and eligibility for residential care, and provide information on other services
- Ageing in place
The policy of helping residents to stay in one area as their care needs increase
- Commonwealth Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT)
A group of professional people who will assess your needs and eligibility for residential care, and provide information on other services.
- Community Aged Care Packages
Help to stay in your own home with services based upon individual need. Clients can choose the type of support they want.
- Community Care Places
Same as Community Aged Care Packages
- Community Integration
Older people are assisted to access community groups and facilities, to reconnect with community activities and to overcome social isolation
- Community Rehabilitation
Short term support through a rehabilitation care package. Short term rehabiliative interventions to increase independence.
- Dementia Specific
Accomodation for residents diagnosed with dementia that are at risk of wandering
- Fully Accredited Facilities
An Aged Care Facility that has passed all four standards of care
- Healthy Ageing
Physical health and wellbeing including physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, podiatry, occupational therapy, health and fitness
- Healthy Lifestyles

- High care
The level of service provided to a client whom is dependent on all aspects of daily living
- Home Based Services
Community Care Packages providing long term support at home as an alternative to residential care.
- In Home Support
Support for older people in their own homes for long term, short term or occasional needs. Clients may also register to ensure a quick response in an emergency. User pays.
- Independent Living Units
Helping Hand Independent Housing is made up of one, two and three bedroom units. Units are furnished with the Resident's own possessions. Residents care for themselves independently, being reponsible for their own laundry, cleaning their unit, providing meals and so on. Units become available in North Adelaide, Prospect, Ingle Farm, Parafield Gardens, Clare and Port Pirie. You can simply request a brochure from our website or call 8366 1350.
- Low care
The level of service provided to a client whom is independent and capable of dealing with their own aspects of daily living
- Short Term Residential Respite
Helping Hand provides short term accomodation for frail aged persons who are usually cared for by a spouse, relative or friend in a domestic environment. Respite care provides an opportunity for carers to take some time out or a well earned break.

Mental and emotional wellbeing including educational opportunities, counselling, personal growth classes, relationship enrichment, support groups, lifestyle planning
