Susan Emerson

Susan Emerson has extensive experience in the aged care sector in South Australia as clinician, Director of Nursing and senior manager, latterly with responsibility for large-scale development projects.

A former national President of Geriaction Inc and member of the National Aged Care Alliance (NACA), and member of the Australian College of Nursing (ACN) she is a speaker at national seminars and conferences, has been a visiting Lecturer for the Primary Health Promotion and Nursing Courses at Flinders University and was a member of SA Health’s Quality Use of Medicines Working Group.  In 2007 she was awarded, from a national field, an aged-care scholarship to investigate contemporary care practice in Europe, and in 2009 she was named Citizen of the Year by SA’s largest Council in recognition of her extensive intergenerational initiatives and service development activities over the preceding decade.

Susan is currently a Clinical Governance Advisor to the Australian Digital Health Authority and a member of the Aged Care Financing Authority. She has a particular interest in the social and built-form influences on the wellbeing of older people.
