Dementia Action Week 2023 runs from September 18 to 24.
Dementia impacts close to half a million Australians and almost 1.6 million Australians are involved in their care. The number of people living with dementia is set to double in the next 25 years.
This year’s Action Week theme is ‘Act Now for a Dementia-Friendly Future’. We know that when a community becomes dementia-friendly it leads to less fear and a greater understanding of dementia, less stigma and discrimination, and more support and better systems for people living with dementia to live well in their community for longer.
During Dementia Action Week 2023, we encourage you to reach out to your community and learn more about the needs of people living with dementia, their families and carers who are living in your area.
There’s a huge range of information on the Dementia Australia website including tips for information, resources and ideas on how everyone in the community can better support people living with dementia.
