To celebrate 65 years of Helping Hand, we have gathered 65 recipes from across the organisation, reflecting the diversity, histories and stories of our community.
The recipes have been gifted from clients and residents in home care, social groups, retirement living and residential care.
From Allan at Lealholme at Port Pirie who has shared a pancake recipe using three ingredients to Lian in retirement living who has generously shared a recipe for Sticky Baked Banana Pudding and Toffee Sauce which was on the menu at her Barossa Valley restaurant for many years – the book will cater to all levels of cooking skills.
Featuring a selection of savoury and sweet dishes, some contributors have shared insights in to their lives with the recipes including Dora who reminisces about cooking sweets with her mum in Italy at weddings; and Barbara who cooked Welsh Cakes on a coal-fired cooktop; and Viv’s family who recount his journey in to cooking and the perfection of his Apple Tart.
The ‘Recipes from the Helping Hand Community’ cook book costs $20, with proceeds supporting resident and client activities and events. Postage is an added $4 anywhere in Australia.
