Types of Support

The Government funds two programs to support older South Australians to continue living in their own home.

These are the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) and Home Care Packages (HCP). You can also choose to pay for services yourself.

Home Support Program

The Commonwealth Home Support Program provides basic support to help stay independent at home. This level of care is for people who may need support to manage daily tasks like cleaning, gardening or driving to appointments.

Home Care Packages

Home Care Packages provide medium to high level support, giving clients a package of services. There are four levels of packages depending on individual needs. A Helping Hand Coordinator works with the client and their family to work out what services the person wants and needs (i.e. cleaning, gardening, social, transport etc.) to ensure they get the most out of their package.
