Michael is a resident at Helping Hand Ingle Farm. He grew up in Kilkenny, where he also raised his family. Married to Helen for more than 30 years, they have two daughters and three beautiful grandchildren.

Michael is a musician. As a drummer in his muso days he played all over Adelaide, was in a band called ‘The Dolphins’ which played on cruise ships and show boats, spent five years in the Police band and even played with the Little River Band before they were famous.

Michael’s full-time job was as a driver for the Australian Government – a job which took him all over Australia and gave him the opportunity to learn tactical driving skills like drifting and skids. He had the opportunity to meet and drive for a long list of famous people including the Pope, Princess Diana, Queen Elizabeth, Bob Hawke, The President of Ireland and so many more. He was also John Howard’s driver for five years of which he says: ‘It was the best job ever’.

Michael has ‘a lot of time’ for the staff at Helping Hand. ‘They are all very understanding’.
