Speech Pathology Week 2022 – Helping Hand

Speech Pathology Week 2022

Speech Pathology Week 2022 runs from 21 to 27 August, and the theme is Good Communication, Better Communities.

The week promotes the speech pathology profession and the work done by speech pathologists with the 1.2 million Australians who have a communication disability.

95% of aged care home residents live with at least one communication disorder. This can be because of stroke, dementia, Parkinson’s Disease, brain injuries, hearing and sensory loss, as well as other problems that can affect speech and language. Speech pathologists play an important role in enabling older people to remain independent, socially connected, and healthy.

Thank you to all our Speech Pathologists at Helping Hand who are helping older people to live their best lives.

If you or someone you love are experiencing communication difficulties, contact Helping Hand on 1300 653 600 to see how the Speech Pathology team might be able to help!
