Stefanie is the Residential Services Manager for our residential care homes, Carinya in Clare and Belalie Lodge in Jamestown.
She has been with Helping Hand for 22 years and started her journey as a carer: ‘I love caring and nursing, so I progressed and studied to become an Enrolled Nurse, then a Registered Nurse. I was then trained to be a Clinical Nurse. This led me down the path to becoming the Residential Services Manager at Belalie Lodge and Carinya.’
The favourite part of Stef’s job is being with residents: ‘I have frequent visits from them, and we chat in my office. I have always loved the elderly, particularly my grandparents. The elderly are a vulnerable part of our population and I just wanted to bring some kindness into their lives.’
Stef is grateful for her team: ‘I have a great team. I am what I am because of them. They contribute so much to the running of the care homes.’
In her spare time, Stef likes to garden, ride her bike, and hang out with family. She also says that she is very good at karaoke – even though she says that some will disagree!
