Tovertafels for all our care homes – Helping Hand

Tovertafels for all our care homes

We are very excited to announce that we now have Tovertafels for all of our residential care homes. We are the only organisation in Australia that can boast that fact.

A Tovertafel is an interactive projector designed for people living with dementia. They encourage people to play, engage and connect. And to be honest, not only are they incredibly beneficial, but
they’re fun for everyone. Click here to see one in action.

You may remember that we first learned about the Tovertafel in 2019, when the Ingle Farm Auxiliary raised $15,000 to buy one for residents living in the Memory Support Unit. Both the joy and benefit it brought to people was obvious.

We were inspired to embark on our own fundraising campaign so we could purchase them for all our Memory Support Units which would mean securing $120,000. No small feat. A combination of general fundraising, support from auxiliaries, and a contribution from the organisation got us to that figure. This included the raffle we launched during Summer, which featured an amazing selection of uniquely South Australian prizes and experiences.

We now have a Tovertafel for Belalie Lodge, North Adelaide, Golden Grove, Mawson Lakes, Parafield Gardens, Lightsview, Clare and Port Pirie.

We are forever grateful for the generosity of donors and hard work of various fundraising groups connected to the organisation. They contributed more than 70% of the amount required. Along with the Helping Hand Dementia Scholarship and our Clinical Education Team, the Tovertafel is part of our overall commitment to provide the very best care to our clients.

If you haven’t already and get the chance, check a Tovertafel out. They’ve already become an important part of our lifestyle program and day-to-day life.
