Levels of Support with Government Home Care Programs – Helping Hand

Levels of Support

The Government funds two programs to support older South Australians to continue living in their own home.

These programs have different levels of support, and are known as the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) and Home Care Packages (HCP). You can also choose to pay for services yourself through our Elevate Home Care Program.

Levels of Support

Commonwealth Home Support Programme

The Commonwealth Home Support Program provides basic support to help stay independent at home. The support is for people who may need care and assistance to manage daily tasks like cleaning, gardening or driving to appointments.

Home Care Packages

Home Care Packages provide medium to high levels of support, giving clients a package of services. There are four levels of packages depending on individual needs. A Helping Hand Coordinator works with the client and their family to work out what services the person wants and needs (i.e. cleaning, gardening, social, transport etc.) to ensure they get the most out of their package.
