Residential Care Homes Accreditation

Accreditation is covered in the Aged Care Act 1997 (revised under the Quality of Care Amendment (Single Quality Framework) Principles 2018), and requires all providers of aged care services be approved and comply with a set of Aged Care Quality Standards. These standards are maintained through the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission, which is a department of the Australian Government and works closely with the Department of Health.

The Commission assesses and approves aged care providers to ensure they are observing and complying with the Aged Care Quality Standards.

All Helping Hand residential sites undergo accreditation assessments, like all aged care providers, and assessment reports are available on the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission website. You can find those reports by going to and typing Helping Hand in the “Name” search box at the top of the page.

Home Care Accreditation

Similar to residential care homes, providers of home care services are also required to comply with the Aged Care Quality Standards, as described above. This ensures consistent high-quality care for all recipients of aged care services.

Using Helping Hand’s quality review processes, we continue to review, refine and work to continuously improve our service delivery to ensure safe, high-quality home care services are delivered and meet the identified needs of clients.

Aged Care Quality Standards

The Aged Care Quality Standards clearly define what good care should look like. Each of the eight standards states what the consumer can expect and is about an aspect of care that contributes to safety, health and well-being. Aged care providers like Helping Hand must meet an outcome for consumers and must demonstrate how they are meeting that outcome.
