Len, volunteer at Ingle Farm

Len has been volunteering for Helping Hand at Ingle Farm three times a week for five years. He has grown up all around Adelaide playing a lot of backyard cricket with his younger brother.

Len’s passions are music, car racing and the Adelaide Crows. He is a singer and a self-taught musician playing drums and piano. Len plays every Monday morning and lunch break to residents. Since being at Helping Hand he says he is continuously improving and getting better. He loves to see the smiles on residents faces and to get as many people involved as he can.

‘When starting out at Helping Hand I didn’t know the impact it would have on me. This is the best work and thing I have ever done. I treat it as a real job. I’m never late and never miss a day. I fell in love’.

One of Len’s most memorable moments was when he was playing piano, a resident was watching him crying. ‘It was so beautiful to see’.
